Artist Statement
Growing up in an increasingly digital age, I’ve always felt a strong pull toward physical media. The desire to reintroduce raw, tactile, 3D art into the public consciousness has been a driving force behind much of my work. While digital technology has revolutionized the art world, I find that the physicality of traditional materials allows for a more powerful connection to others. 3D art allows me to interact with others in a way that digital art cannot. Each piece I create is not only something you can see on a screen but something you can truly experience.
My artistic process is thoughtfully planned and methodical, reflecting my detail oriented personality. I start with a concept and medium that sparks my interest and I begin by sketching and experimenting with ideas. Once I have a clear vision, I dive deeper into researching materials and techniques, as I enjoy exploring new mediums with each project. Whether it’s fibers, mosaics, or found objects, I am always eager to incorporate new elements into my work. The challenge of combining unexpected materials and concepts to create artwork that evokes emotion of any kind is something I find extremely rewarding. Looking ahead, I hope to continue and deepen my exploration of 3D art, to offer an artistic experience that contrasts with our digital lives.
PORTFOLIO
Bound By Devotion 2024
25x20x13
Polymer Clay and Plaster

The essence of this piece is to convey devotion in a relationship, regardless of the circumstances. It draws inspiration from my own personal experiences with friendship, expressed through an animal I feel deeply connected to. Having grown up with dogs, I’ve spent my life observing their behavior, often finding parallels between their actions and my own. In these moments, I humanize my dog’s behavior, using it as a lens to understand my own emotions and relationships. This connection became the foundation for this artwork, which reflects the complexities of friendship through the bond I share with my dog.
To create this piece, I began by shaping aluminum foil around a curved piece of rebar to form the dog’s bust. I then sculpted the details with polymer clay, carefully bringing the dog’s form to life with attention to every subtle detail. Next, I molded a friend’s hand using silicone, which I positioned gently on the dog’s nose, to show the controlling nature of the relationship. After baking the sculpture and attaching the hand, I used acrylic and airbrush paints to add depth and color to the piece. I collaged the dog’s collar with fabrics and paper, adding a metal-stamped dog tag that reads “BOUND BY DEVOTION”. The final detail, the fabric chain, grounds the sculpture and creates a sense of false boundedness for the dog as the chain is not pinned down. Through this process, I aimed to capture the emotional complexities of relationships through art.

24×36
Porcelain Tile

This piece was inspired by my lifelong struggle to fall asleep, often resorting to “counting sheep” as a way to calm my mind. I chose to experiment with a new medium because I wanted the materials to enhance the meaning of the artwork. The repetitive action of placing each tile is similar to the meditative process of counting sheep. Additionally, the medium itself doesn’t create a smooth or flawless image reflecting the way someone might visualize it in their mind’s eye.

Branches of Life 2024

Cotton Fabric
I’ve worked with fibers before this but only when constructing clothing so I decided to try something more experimental. I was inspired by collage quilt artist, Deborah Boschert, to create this non traditional quilt with expressive thread work. It symbolizes the connection between nature and humans.

Innocence of Curiosity 2023
22x16x15
Polymer Clay and Felt
For this piece, I wanted to explore the overlap of curiosity and innocence, drawing inspiration from two contrasting elements, the inquisitive octopus and the delicate flower. The octopus, known for its intelligence and adaptability, symbolizes the nature of curiosity, while the lily of the valley, with its pure and gentle beauty it represents innocence. Together, they convey the idea that curiosity is both pure and an essential part of our lives on Earth.
The octopus’s many limbs made the sculpture difficult to approach, so I had to carefully consider its structural integrity when choosing its position. The sculpture is a more stylized interpretation of a delicate, thin twisting octopus to allow for greater strength and stability. To further enhance the contrast between curiosity and innocence, I selected vibrant shades of contrasting orange and purple, adding visual tension.
